Continuing Professional Development (CPD) involves relevant education and study by a solicitor to develop their professional knowledge, skills and abilities.

CPD FOCUS Training
Courses are intended to balance theory and practicality and to meet the day-to-day practice needs of the profession. Some courses may also be of interest to members of the public. If you have any queries about our courses, please contact cpdfocus@lawsociety.ie
Book a Course
Make a booking in one of the following ways:
- e-Learning
Login to the members' area to view and book e-learning courses under CPD.
- Online
View a list of on-site courses. Choose a course, view details and click Buy Now to pay online. You will need to login to finalise payment. Members and trainees can login with their solicitor/trainee number. Others can register for a password.
- Post
Download and complete a booking form and return with payment to the CPD FOCUS Team, The Law School, Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7, DX 79 Dublin. Please ensure all cheques are made payable to the Law Society.

CPD Scheme
The Solicitors (Continuing Professional Development) Regulations 2009 came into effect on 1st January 2010 and a copy of the updated Scheme booklet will shortly be available to download.
The CPD requirement for the 2010 cycle is 11 hours, of which at least a minimum of three hours must comprise management and professional development skills and a minimum of one hour must comprise regulatory matters.
