PPC2 2012: Core Tutorial Group Information (Updated 17th April 2012 @ 5pm). The core tutorial group information is now available to download above. Students with a PRE-REGISTERED status are required on campus to meet with Fionna Fox at 9:45am on Wednesday 18th April. Once all documentation is in order, Fionna will issue pre-registered students a core tutorial group number. If you have any queries in relation to your application - please contact Traineeship Section.
Please Note: You have been allocated one tutorial number for the 4 core subjects - PPCM, Employment Law, Advanced Family & Child Law and English & Welsh Property Law subjects only. Each chosen elective has a separate tutorial group number. This information will be posted to Moodle week commencing 23rd April. PPCII is structure differently to PPCI, therefore only the group information above is relevant.
Material Distributions 18th and 19th April - Failure to pick up your materials at the scheduled times will result in you paying a late collection fee of €5.00 per booklet. As we are aiming to distribute most of the booklets for the entire PPC II course on the above distribution dates, this could prove costly. Each trainee must sign and collect materials in person - no exceptions will be made.
Further information re the upcoming PPC II is available on Moodle. If you are having problems logging on to Moodle via the website, please contact the education IT Department.
The PPC II is a full-time course and you will need to be available during the week, Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 6:00pm (or 8:00pm depending on your elective choices). Attendance on the core subjects will be strictly monitored and it is the responsibility of each student to attend at their allotted tutorial and lecture time (PPCM Attendance Policy)
The PPC II 2012 will consist of four compulsory modules and three elective modules.
Compulsory Modules: Professional Practice Conduct and Management, Employment Law, Family Law and English Property Law (successful completion of English Property Law will enable trainees to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales without taking any examinations in that jurisdiction).
Electives: Trainees will have a choice of eight electives from, which they must choose three (trainees are free to choose whichever electives they wish). Seven of these will run during normal teaching hours and the eighth will be offered during evening hours. The eighth elective is a course in Advanced Legal Irish. This will enable you to take an examination in the Irish language leading to your inclusion in the register of Irish speaking solicitors.
A detailed syllabus of all the modules offered on the upcoming course is available in the PPC II 2012 booklet.
