New Companies Act 2014

11/12/2014 16:10:51

The Companies Bill was passed on Wednesday, 10 December 2014. The new Companies Act is planned to come into force on 1 June 2015.

With about 1,500 sections, this is the largest piece of legislation ever enacted by the Oireachtas.

The Law Society would like to highlight and applaud the unique contribution of solicitor Tom Courtney of Arthur Cox who, as Chairman of the Company Law Review Group (CLRG), has driven this project since delivery of the CLRG’s outline design of a consolidation Act in its first report in 2002.

We would also like to thank the many solicitors and other members of the Company Law Review Group, the Society’s Business Law Committee and other solicitors who assisted in the company law consolidation and reform project.

For more information and analysis, Law Society Professional Training are organising a one-day conference on Wednesday 25 March 2015. More information and booking details will be posted shortly under Courses & Events on the Law Society website.
