LegalMind

Psychotherapy for solicitors.

LegalMind Logo-2024.jpgLegalMind is an independent and subsidised therapeutic service that is designed to support the specific needs of solicitors. A psychologically well-resourced solicitor enjoys professional success that benefits themselves, their clients, and their legal workplaces, without compromising personal wellbeing. Law Society Psychological Services announces our latest member benefit, a newly enhanced LegalMind.

About LegalMind

As of 15 January 2024, Law Society Psychological Services will partner with Clanwilliam Institute for the provision of this service. Clanwilliam Institute is a registered charity dedicated to providing safe and confidential psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, and families. It is also a recognised leader in the training of Systemic Psychotherapists in Ireland.

The overall quality of this new service will be closely overseen and developed in consultation with Law Society Psychological Services. See answers to some common questions about the service below.

LegalMind is available to:

  • Law Society members and practising certificate holders; and

  • trainees who have returned to the office having completed the Professional Practice Course.

  • Would you like to acquire skills and insights to support you personally as you progress professionally?

  • Are you curious about psychotherapy?

  • Does a series of heavily-subsidised therapy sessions appeal to you?

  • Are you navigating a painful situation, relationship or behaviour that is impacting on your wellbeing?

No one needs to wait until they are experiencing burn-out or in a crisis to engage with LegalMind. Curiosity is a great starting point.

LegalMind aims to assign you swiftly to a member of the clinical team.

  • LegalMind is committed to responding to everyone within two working days of initial contact.

  • LegalMind will confirm the start date for your sessions within two weeks of that initial contact.

LegalMind connects members swiftly with suitably qualified and experienced psychotherapists:

  • LegalMind therapists have completed postgraduate professional training up to a minimum of Master's degree level.

  • Therapists are accredited/registered with the Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI) and with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).

  • The first psychotherapy/counselling appointment with LegalMind is free.

  • Subsequent appointments are available for a reduced fee of €30 + VAT per appointment.

  • The Law Society pays the balance of €100 plus VAT per session for the LegalMind client.

  • Eight subsidised therapeutic sessions may be availed of per calendar year (with the potential for two additional sessions, where clinically appropriate).

  • Should additional support be desired upon conclusion of subsidised LegalMind sessions, clients are welcome to continue with our LegalMind partners (Clanwilliam Institute), as private, fee-paying clients.

Solicitors may, in certain geographic locations, avail of enhanced offerings such as couples and/or family therapy.

  • LegalMind therapeutic support can be delivered face-to-face or online depending on availability within the Clanwilliam Institute and on the concerning issue.

  • Couple and family work is offered in-person only.

  • Any information shared in LegalMind counselling/psychotherapy appointments will be kept confidential (within statutory limits) and cannot be shared with anyone or any other organisation outside of our service delivery partners Clanwilliam Institute.

All enquiries to LegalMind are fully confidential to our partner providers, Clanwilliam Institute. All therapy sessions are conducted by highly trained professionals in a confidential forum.
