The results are in! The Future Way We Work Survey
Access the results of a profession-wide survey on the future of work.
Key insights and recommendations from the Younger Members Committee survey of the profession on the Future Way We Work are now available.
Some of the key findings from the report include:
- 61% of solicitors were blending remote and on-site work to serve their clients in July 2021.
- 91% of solicitors expressed a preference for a hybrid working model in future, with 5% wanting to work at home full time and 4% preferring full-time office work.
- 69% of solicitors feel more productive when working at home.
- 64% of solicitors will make career decisions based on remote or hybrid working policies.
- 70% of solicitors see feelings of isolation from colleagues as a challenge with working remotely.
Recommendations arising from the report carried out by Smith & Williamson on behalf of the Committee include:
- Organisations should consider establishing communication policies regarding remote work arrangements.
- Organisations should consider taking steps to preserve their firm’s culture.
- The Law Society should consider taking steps to assist organisations and staff with transitioning to hybrid-work arrangements on a more long-term basis, where such organisations elect to do so.
