Course Outcomes
This course aims to give students a complete insight into the law and practice of trade mark law in Ireland and in Europe, at the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market. Students who complete the course will be familiar with the legal principles and procedures in place regarding trade mark applications, post-registration and formalities issues, recordals and ownership changes, and the enforcement of trade mark rights through infringement and/or passing off and defences thereto.
Course Structure
The course runs over three months and is divided into two modules:
Module One Introduction to Trade Mark Law
Module Two Infringements, rights, remedies and enforcement
Workshops
Workshops are an integral part of the course and aim to be hands on and consolidate what is dealt with in the lectures. This course will be webcast online however onsite attendance for workshops is strongly advised to maximize the learning experience.
Who Should Attend
This course is primarily aimed at those individuals who plan to sit the Trade Mark Agent exam set by the Irish Patents Office. The course will be of interest to solicitors, barristers and those working in the area of IP and industry, pharma companies, brand managers, sole traders and entrepreneurs.
Lecturers & Tutors
Lecturers will include leading IP solicitors, barristers and Trade Mark Attorneys in Ireland who have vast amounts of exposure to and experience in IP practice and litigation both at home and abroad.
Please note: If you are not a qualified solicitor, trainee or barrister – you must send a CV & cover letter for approval. Such applications are subject to a supplemental fee, which amounts to a supplement of €150 in respect of a diploma application and a supplement of €75 in respect of a certificate application.
